Festival of Ingmar Bergman films at Kyiv cinema
Beginning this week, on June 14 to be precise, Kyiv cinema will present a nine-day tribute to Swedish filmmaking legend Ingmar Bergman. Each night of the festival one or two films will be shown beginning at 7:30pm. The list of films includes: Wild Strawberries (June 14, 15); Smiles of a Summer Night (June 15, 16); From the Life of the Marionettes (June 16, 17); The Seventh Seal (June 17, 18); Cries and Whispers (June 18, 19); Persona (June 19, 20); Autumn Sonata (June 20, 21); Winter Light (June 21, 22), and After the Rehearsal (June 22). It’s unknown as yet whether the movies will merely be dubbed or shown in the original language with subtitles. Tickets for all screenings will be just Hr 25. See

George Michael tickets going fast
For fans of George Michael (who teamed with the above-mentioned Elton John in 1991 to reprise John’s 1974 hit “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me”), they’d better get to a local ticket sales kiosk soon: tickets for the July 9 concert at Olympic Stadium are quickly disappearing. Basement ticket price is Hr 150, and normally at Kyiv concerts these are the best seats, but given the stadium format and the potential for intrusive VIP seating, fans would do well to find out exactly what they’re getting for their money. In any case, given that the Rolling Stones date on July 25 was cancelled, this concert should be the show of the summer, the Elton John date aside. The George Michael concert will kick off promptly at 7pm.
