Mark your calendars to attend the first General Meeting for the International Women’s Club Kyiv on Monday, September  14 at the Teacher’s House located at 57 Volodimirska at 10:00 am.

The IWCK club brings together women from all over the world to take part in a range of charitable, cultural and social activities.   There are over 300 members from different backgrounds and countries, meeting regularly to improve their knowledge of Ukraine, to help the less fortunate, and simple enjoy social contacts.

For  those who enjoy the social activities within IWCK there are many Interest  Groups that may initiate friendships, pique intellectual stimulation, or produce creative appreciation or fitness activity.  Listed below are the Interest Groups that are available to members.

Children
Baby group: We welcome mothers and their babies aged 0-18 months to socialize every Wednesday afternoon at member’s homes.
Toddler Group: Mums and tots (aged 18 months – 3 years) get together on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:00 for 2 hours of play for the toddlers and talk for the mothers.

Cooking
Cooking group: We share a recipe (in English) and prepare it together. Afterwards we eat together. We meet every second Tuesday in member’s homes.
Culinary Master Class: Once a month on Tuesdays from 10.00 - 13.00 our master Maria Cecilia will demonstrate the fine art of cooking. We will select a theme for each session and after the demonstration we will serve you the dishes. To cover the cost of ingredients we kindly ask you to pay 150 UAH per session. For each session you will receive an invitation and be informed about what dishes we will demonstrate. For autumn we have planned the following dates: Oct. 13th, Nov. 10th and Dec 8th.

Creative art / Art Appreciation
Painting group: All levels are welcome! The classes will take place on Fridays in a gallery located in the centre. Our teacher is a well known Ukrainian artist. All supplies (paints, brushes, easels etc.) are provided by the gallery and will cost around 140 UAH per class per person.
Art Appreciation Group: This group visits galleries in Kiev to get acquainted with art produced in Ukraine. Visits will be prepared beforehand by the interest group leader and the owner of the galleries and English translation is provided. We do not have a set meeting schedule as we depend on the gallery’s schedule though usually we meet in the morning on Mondays or Thursdays.

Games, sports and well being
Belly Dancing for beginners: Learn how to belly dance, on the basic belly dancing techniques, forms and moves as well as a little practice routine. If there is sufficient demand after the first session the group will meet in a studio with mirrors, in the centre of Kiev. A small fee might be involved. Day to be determined. Please bring a shawl, cloth or a Hip Belt to the lesson.
Tennis group: We play every Wednesday - all year round - from 10.00 - 12.00 at Olympic (walking distance from metro Nyvky). Depending on the weather we play indoors or outdoors. A small fee might be involved to rent the courts.
Walking group: This group meets every Friday morning at 10.30 at the Funicular near the Michalevski church on the upper level and starts from there for an easy walk through Kiev.

Handicraft

Needle & Thread group (was Patch work Group before):  We meet every Thursday 10:00 -13:00 in a member’s home.

Native Language oriented activities
English conversation: This group discusses a variety of predetermined topics picked by the group, ranging from body parts to world travel. There are normally between 8 and 12 members and we try to have at least 2 native English speakers.
Kiev Accueil: This group is a French speaking group meeting once a month on a Thursday at a member's place. Each meeting is organised around an Ukrainian-related theme. This is also the occasion to meet, chat and share tips about daily life in Kyiv around a cup of coffee!
Le Bistro: Fluent French speakers gather every other Tuesday at 12:30 for lunch at different restaurants.
Italian Espresso Group: This group consists of fluent Italian speaking ladies from different countries who like to have a nice and funny Italian chat. These ladies are meeting because they want to exchange their experience in Kyiv and support the newcomers to be faster integrated into Kyiv’s life.
Stammtisch: This group consists of fluent German speaking IWCK members from different countries who enjoy speaking German. The idea of the group is to exchange the member’s experience in Kyiv, to support newcomers in getting integrated into the everyday life of Kyiv and to have a nice time hearing and speaking the many different German dialects! The group meets on the first Wednesday every month from 10 to 12 o’clock at member’s homes.
Ukrainian Language Conversation Group: If there is sufficient demand Victoria Varvariv will continue with the Ukrainian Language Conversation Group to teach/help you with the basics, such as greetings, directions and market shopping. We meet every other Thursday from 10:30–12.30 at member’s  houses.
Russian conversation: The Russian Conversation group sessions are casual gatherings to speak and share ideas in Russian. The idea of the Russian conversation group is to help members practice their Russian language skills. Members need to have an understanding of basic Russian. Intermediate Russian preferred. We usually meet on Thursdays at 10.30 at members' homes and we always try to have a native Russian to help in the conversation.

Literature
Russian/Ukrainian literature group: This group meets every other Thursday from 10:30 - 12:30 at member’s homes to discuss in English prose and poetry of Russian and Ukrainian authors. The first meeting will be on Sept. 24th.
Reading group/Book club: If anybody is interested in joining a Book club to discuss an international selection of writers (in English),.
French Reading Group: This group is part of the French Kiev Accueil and is called "Le Cercle". They meet every other Tuesday morning 10.00 – 12.30 in members’ homes. Members bring books to the meeting and exchange them.
German Reading Group: This newly presented group welcomes German speakers who are interested in discussing and sharing their (german or international) books or DVDs. We meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 10 o clock.

Miscellaneous

Monday Morning coffee: This group meets on Mondays from 10:30 to 12:30 at member’s homes or restaurants for social exchange of information and ideas. For new people in Kiev this is a great opportunity to get information about what’s happening in Kiev and in IWCK.
Social Networking:  Feel more comfortable during more professional / office related events, receptions etc. by giving us tips on public speaking, Ukrainian local customs, Ukrainian and Russian names  and other useful things to know. This group will meet the 3rd Thursday of the month in the IWCK ‘ office from 12.00 – 14.00.
Working women / Gals Night Out: No hassle, evening get-togethers for gals. You are a member, but you are missing out on the wonderful day-time events. This group is for you! We will meet once a month, only in the evening. We will not do much, if anything. The primary purpose is - meet, chat, unwind… Get on the mailing list, wait for the email announcing the next get-together. Sign up, let your hair down and join us.

Music and theatre
Choir: The choir meets every Thursday evening at 19:00-21:00 in the centre. Our repertoire is a mix of classic and more modern songs. If you like singing, you are more than welcome to join us.
